Now is a great time to invest in your home and help keep the economy moving by replacing your drafty
old windows with new energy efficient vinyl windows.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan of 2009, allows for a federal energy tax credit to
homeowners, up to 30% of the cost of window and door replacement or, a maximum $1,500 for taxable years 2009 and 2010.
To qualify, windows and doors must have a 0.30 U-factor and 0.30 Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) or
better.
Most of the vinyl windows we carry will qualify for the tax credit if they are ordered with argon gas,
upgraded low-e glass, and energy efficient spacer bars.
Qualifying and receiving your tax credit is easy:
- Purchase a qualifying window or door and save your sales receipt and the NFRC/ENERGY STAR label with
your tax documents.
- Have your qualifying windows or doors installed between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010.
- Claim the tax credit associated with your qualifying purchase on your federal filing for the 2009 and/or 2010 tax year.
